Born in 1971 at Ernakulam, to Smt Sreedevi Rajan and late Shri T. R. Rajappan, Sandhya found a keen interest in learning classical dance forms from a very young age. She hails from a rich classical dance tradition, which spans more than three generations. Since early age she has been well versed in different dance forms such as Mohiniyattam, Bharathanatyam, Kathakali and Kuchipudi. Her achievements in the classical dance form Mohiniyattam have no bounds and her inspiration has always been her Guru’s - her grandmother Guru Kalamandalam Kalyanikutti Amma, her mother Smt Sreedevi Rajan and her aunt Kala Vijayan. She is the founder of Nrithyakhsethra (Temple of Dance) which is situated in Ernakulam where she teaches and trains aspiring students.
